Local families will need to wait a few more days to dive into summer, as the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District has announced a postponement in the opening of the Hoffman Pool.

Originally scheduled to open earlier, the new opening date is set for Friday, May 30th, due to forecasted temperatures not expected to reach 70 degrees until the end of the month.

Kris Myers, Superintendent of the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District, said the decision was made to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for visitors.

“We appreciate the community’s understanding,” Myers said. “While we’re all eager for summer fun, this short delay will help us start the season off right.”

Hoffman Pool has been a popular summer destination in Bellefontaine since it opened in 1968.

The facility features three diving boards, a large waterslide, a baby pool area for young children, and a sand volleyball court.

For the 2025 season, Hoffman Pool will be open seven days a week, from 12:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

As the community looks forward to warmer days, Myers says the pool staff is ready. “We’re excited to welcome everyone back and make this a great season at Hoffman Pool.”
