Drivers in Logan County should plan for delays as the Logan County Engineer’s Office begins chip sealing work on County Road 18 this week.

The project is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, and Thursday, July 16, with work taking place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Crews will be working on County Road 18 between State Route 508 and County Road 11.

During construction, emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed through with the assistance of flaggers, but no through traffic will be permitted.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and expect delays.

Drivers traveling through the work zone are urged to slow down and use caution, as loose stone will remain on the roadway for several days.

The area will also have unmarked no-passing zones until permanent pavement markings are restored later this fall.

To help the new surface cure properly and improve safety, the Engineer’s Office recommends traveling no faster than 20 mph on the first day after the chip seal is applied and no faster than 30 mph for at least seven days afterward.

The schedule is weather dependent and may change if conditions require.

The Logan County Engineer’s Office thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation while crews work to improve the county’s roadways.
