The Logan County Engineer’s Office has announced that County Road 57 will undergo chip sealing on Thursday, weather permitting.

Work is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on County Road 57 between US 68 and County Road 9.

There will be no overnight closures, but drivers should expect delays during the day.

Emergency vehicles and local traffic will be maintained with the help of flagging personnel.

However, through traffic will not be permitted, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible.

Drivers are reminded to slow down and use extra caution in the work zone, as loose stone will remain on the roadway for several days.

Temporary no-passing zones will also be in effect until permanent pavement markings are replaced this fall.

The Engineer’s Office recommends traveling no faster than 20 mph on the first day after the chip seal is applied and no faster than 30 mph for at least seven days to allow the surface to properly cure.

The schedule is weather-dependent and may change if conditions are unfavorable.
