Two people were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a domestic dispute at a camper in Huntsville led to allegations of assault, strangulation, and drug possession.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened just after 2:00 PM.

Deputies responded after receiving a call from a woman who reported being assaulted and prevented from leaving the camper.

According to deputies, the victim told investigators that Charles Morris Jr., 49, of Milford Center, became angry with her overnight and began verbally abusing her.

She alleged that Morris poked her in the face, followed her into the bathroom, placed his arm around her neck, and strangled her until she couldn’t breathe.

She said Morris threatened to kill her during the incident.

The woman also claimed that when she tried to call 911, Morris took her phone to prevent her from getting help.

Later that morning, she said he pulled her hair and threw her to the ground.

Morris denied the allegations, claiming she attacked him first and that the dispute was related to drug use.

Both admitted to recent drug use, according to deputies.

A search of the woman’s belongings reportedly turned up three pills not prescribed to her.

She was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say Morris allowed a search of the camper, where they found suspected methamphetamine, a straw, a razor blade with white residue, and other paraphernalia.

He was charged with assault, aggravated menacing, strangulation, disrupting public services, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were taken to the Logan County Jail.
