A 26-year-old West Liberty woman was arrested early Saturday morning after police found her staggering through a Bellefontaine neighborhood and attempting to enter a residence where she did not belong.

At approximately 5:01 a.m., officers saw a female dressed in all black stumbling up Hillcrest Drive, talking to herself.

When officers approached the woman, she ran through a backyard and was later found on the covered porch of a home on Woodland Drive.

The officer recognized the woman as Cassidy Cozad.

Cozad initially refused to speak with officers and claimed she was fine.

She also claimed the house belonged to her family, though her explanation of how she arrived there was confused and did not make sense.

Cozad also showed several signs of intoxication, and told officers she was trying to get home — a residence she said was in West Liberty.

Officers then spoke with the homeowner, who confirmed they did not know Cozad.

They went on to explain that Cozad had knocked on the door, told them she was “not a criminal,” and offered them $200 before they shut the door.

Cozad was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail, where she was lodged on the probation violation and public intoxication charges.
