Downtown Bellefontaine is getting a little more artsy.

Thelma Matthews, founder of Cracked Pot Studio, has been a staple in Bellefontaine’s arts community for decades.

Her studio has drawn artists from across the country, blending expertise with a welcoming spirit that encourages creativity.

Now, Matthews is expanding her reach by bringing her walk-in pottery painting concept to the storefront of Triple Moon Design Co. on West Columbus Avenue.

“Partnering with Jessica and Triple Moon is a natural next step for Cracked Pot,” said Matthews. “It allows us to reach more people, right in the middle of the energy and foot traffic of downtown. I’ve always believed art should be accessible and fun, and this partnership gives us a new way to welcome people in.”

The concept is pretty easy: walk in, pick out a pottery piece, paint at your own pace, and return later to pick up your kiln-fired masterpiece.

No appointments are necessary; just come to the store during business hours, Thursday and Friday from noon to 8 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 8 PM, or Sunday 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

“This has been a dream in the making,” said Jessica Epley, owner of Triple Moon Design Co. “Thelma’s passion for pottery is infectious. We’re excited to help bring her vision to life and add a hands-on, creative option to what we already offer in our space.”

The downtown studio quietly opened last weekend, and Matthews will regularly be on-site to greet visitors and guide first-time painters.

Cracked Pot Studio will continue to operate from its original location at Union Station, where Matthews leads pottery workshops, hosts visiting artists, and sells handcrafted ceramic goods.

The downtown expansion is designed to be approachable and fun, welcoming kids, families, and anyone eager to try their hand at painting pottery.
