A two-vehicle crash in Lakeview just after 4:00 Tuesday afternoon led to an OVI arrest.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Nathan Thompson of Bellefontaine was driving a 2015 Honda Accord north on State Route 235 when a 2013 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 41-year-old Roberto Lopez of Columbus, failed to stop at a stop sign on State Route 720.

The Accord hit the passenger side of the Tacoma.

During the investigation, a witness told deputies she saw a man wearing a bright yellow sweatshirt leave the crash scene and bury something in mulch near the road.

An officer with the Washington Township Police Department found a bag containing suspected marijuana in the area.

Passengers in the Tacoma told deputies Lopez had the marijuana before the crash.

Deputies said Lopez showed signs of possible marijuana use and failed several field sobriety tests.

Lopez was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He was also cited for failing to obey a traffic control device and driving without a license.

Lopez agreed to provide a urine sample, which was sent to the Ohio State Highway Patrol for testing.

Washington Township Police, Russells Point Police, and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the crash.
