Marysville – The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a four-vehicle injury crash that occurred, on Wednesday, March 27, at approximately 2:00 PM The crash occurred on U.S. Route 33 near State Route 274.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Toyota Corolla operated by Donald Penrose, 65 of Lakeview, Ohio was traveling eastbound on US Route 33. A 2016 Freightliner operated by Travis Heath, 35 of Union Point, Georgia was traveling eastbound on US Route 33 directly behind Penrose. A third vehicle, a 2012 Acura TL operated by Nicole Blank, 46 of Saint Marys, Ohio was also traveling eastbound on US Route 33 directly behind Heath. A 2009 Kenworth semi operated by Aaron Miller, 28 of Payne, Ohio was traveling westbound on US Route 33. Penrose crossed the center line and struck the semi operated by Miller. After this collision, Miller’s semi also was struck by both the semi operated by Heath and the vehicle operated by Blank. After impact with the semi, Blank’s vehicle struck a guardrail and came to a final rest in the westbound lane. Both semis and the Toyota Corolla came to final rest on the south side of US Route 33.
Penrose was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Heath was transported by ground ambulance to Mary Rutan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Blank and Miller were treated and released at the scene.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Ohio Department of Transportation, Logan County Hazmat, the Environmental Protection Agency, Huntsville Fire and EMS, McArthur Fire Department, Hogan Tire and Repair, and 24/7 Towing and Recovery LLC.
