The Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle injury crash.
The crash happened on Wednesday, shortly after 1:00 PM, on US Route 68 at the intersection of County Road 5.
A 2023 Freightliner semi-tractor and tanker operated by Brandon Ross, 36, of Bastrop, Louisiana, was traveling northbound on US Route 68, approaching the intersection of County Road 5 and attempting to make a right turn.
A 2017 Freightliner semi-tractor and tanker operated by Shawn Todd, 50, of Alger, Ohio, was also traveling northbound on US Route 68, when he struck Mr. Ross from behind.
After the impact with Mr. Ross, Mr. Todd went off the west side of the roadway, coming to rest in a ditch.
Neither tanker was carrying any hazardous material, and there was no spillage at the scene.
Mr. Todd was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by CareFlight, in serious condition.
Mr. Ross was transported by the Mac-o-Chee Joint Ambulance District to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the West Liberty Fire Department, West Liberty Police Department, Macochee Joint Ambulance District, West Liberty Street Department, and Top’s Towing.
All assisting agencies and services played a crucial role during the investigation and clearing of the scene.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.

According to West Liberty Police, U.S. 68 was closed Wednesday afternoon following a crash involving two semi-tractor trailers near the intersection of U.S. 68 and County Road 5.
The crash was reported around 1:15 p.m.
One person was injured and transported by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
As of 3:40 p.m., traffic was still being detoured as crews continued to work the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the crash investigation.
