A hit-and-run crash on South Main Street in Bellefontaine remains under investigation.

Police were called around 5:15 p.m. Thursday to South Main Street and Patterson Avenue after a driver reported being sideswiped.

The victim, 39-year-old Ashley Brewer of Urbana, told officers she was driving southbound on South Main Street in the curb lane when a silver or light-colored Honda CR-V merged into her lane near Speedway at 329 South Main Street.

The CR-V sideswiped Brewer’s 2025 Honda Ridgeline before continuing southbound on Main Street.

Brewer pulled onto Patterson Avenue after the crash.

Brewer described the driver of the suspect vehicle as a woman with dirty blonde hair who appeared to be in her late 30s.

She said another person was also inside the vehicle.

Officers photographed visible damage to the driver’s side of Brewer’s vehicle that was consistent with a same-direction sideswipe.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the suspect vehicle and driver.
