Crews contain Tuesday morning structure fire on U.S. 36

A quick response from multiple agencies helped contain a structure fire early Tuesday morning in the 8000 block of U.S. 36.

The JSP Fire District was dispatched shortly before 6 a.m. after reports of a fire inside a residence. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke conditions, with the fire contained to a single room.

Crews made entry and were able to bring the fire under control quickly, preventing it from spreading further throughout the structure. Firefighters remained on scene to check for extension and ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

Additional agencies assisting at the scene included the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office, American Red Cross, AES Ohio, and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
