According to Bellefontaine Police, Olivia Chambers, 46, of Bellefontaine, was arrested Wednesday following allegations of unauthorized vehicle use, theft of bank cards, and fraudulent ATM withdrawals. The arrest came after her mother, reported Chambers had taken her 2016 Honda CRV and bank cards without permission.
Chambers allegedly took the vehicle on Tuesday and made several unauthorized withdrawals from her mother’s savings account over two days. The total amount withdrawn was estimated to be in the range of a few hundred dollars.
Authorities were alerted to the situation when the victim contacted the police, expressing her concern for her daughter’s well-being. Police were able to locate Chambers after a brief search, thanks to a be-on-the-lookout (BOL) alert sent to nearby law enforcement agencies.
Chambers was found at her daughter’s residence, but she was transported back to the home where the vehicle was located. Police detained Chambers after she initially refused to exit the vehicle. She was subsequently handcuffed and transported to the Logan County Jail.
During questioning, Chambers admitted to taking the vehicle and bank cards and making the withdrawals. She acknowledged that she has a drug problem and expressed a desire for rehabilitation. The victim opted to pursue charges only for the unauthorized use of the vehicle, choosing not to press theft charges after the bank cards were returned.
Chambers is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court on Friday.
