Davis arrested after suspicious fire in Lakeview

A Lakeview man has been arrested following a suspicious fire Saturday night at a vacant residence, according to Washington Township Police.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., Washington Township officers responded to reports of a structure fire at 290 North Main Street.

When officers arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the unoccupied home.

Fire crews from the Lakeview Fire Department and surrounding agencies quickly contained the blaze.

Due to circumstances at the scene, including evidence collected and video surveillance footage, the fire was deemed suspicious.

An investigation was launched immediately.

Jason Davis, 47, of Lakeview, was later arrested and charged with arson.

Authorities have requested the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office review additional charges, including aggravated arson and breaking and entering, citing the danger posed to emergency responders.

Assisting agencies included the Washington Township Police Department, Lakeview Fire Department, Indian Joint Fire District, Indian Lake EMS, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
