The Community Emergency Response Team is a group of volunteers organized by the Logan County Citizen Corps to assist local emergency services in disaster situations.

Locally, participants are training to become certified and vetted volunteers with CERT so they may be better prepared to help in times of disaster.

Wednesday night, participants in Day 2 of CERT Training in Bellefontaine learned more about first aid and best practices for disaster situations.

They also discussed the different types of disasters and how to prepare for and mitigate them.

Logan County CERT Manager, Lance Peterson, says the training helps participants understand their role in helping in disaster areas, much like those in Lakeview last March.

CERT Training continues next week, where participants will learn search and rescue techniques and how to respond to terrorism.
