Benjamin Logan High School has announced its March Seniors of the Month, Miah Defibaugh and Joseph Meeker.
Miah Defibaugh is the daughter of Trinity and Jeremiah Defibaugh of Rushsylvania.
School activities and awards: As I am not at the high school full-time, I was unable to be involved this year as much as I was previously. Currently, I am involved in the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, and I am the vice president of the Criminal Justice Society at Clark State College. In addition to these, I was also previously involved in the Spanish Club, Spanish Honor Society, Raider Outreach Club, Roots, Student Government, and Softball. I have received an academic letter, been a part of the all-academic sports team, received academic excellence in Spanish, and received an excellent rating from the Department of Science.
If I were principal for a day: I would have a free day for all students to be able to catch up on any and all work they need to do.
Favorite school memory: The State Leadership Conference for BPA.
People who have been an inspiration to me include: My parents – no matter the circumstance, they’ve always made sure I could do everything I’ve wanted to do and made sure I had everything I needed and wanted.
Lately, I have been reading: The Fourth Wing series by Rebecca Yarros.
My advice to parents: My advice to parents is to remember that it’s your first time living too, take chances, go on trips, be involved, make memories, and have fun.
My biggest regret: My biggest regret is the chances I didn’t take. While I’m incredibly proud of myself for all that I have done in high school, I think there are a lot of things I didn’t do and/or missed out on because of my schedule. I wouldn’t change anything if I could go back, but I would have been more out there, done more things, and taken more chances.
Next year: Working full-time as a dispatcher and furthering my knowledge in law enforcement.
Joseph Meeker is the son of Stephanie and Aaron Meeker of Zanesfield
School activities and awards: Currently, I am involved in Swim, Track, Bowling, Soccer, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, National Honor Society, and I have earned multiple academic excellence awards in multiple sports. Previously, I was involved in Baseball and Football.
If I were principal for a day: I would give everyone candy to motivate them for the day.
Favorite school memory: Going to Louisville, KY, with the Jazz Band to perform at the University of Louisville Jazz Festival.
People who have been an inspiration to me include: My friends and family.
Lately, I have been reading: Stranger.
My advice to parents: Don’t ridicule your kids for their grades; if they are trying their best, that’s all that matters. No one is going to look back at their high school grades in 20 years and be mad because they didn’t get an A.
My biggest regret: Not joining soccer or track sooner in my athletic career.
Next year: My plans are undecided at this time.
