DeGraff women arrested after striking an Amish buggy

Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched to State Route 235 near County Road 27 for an injury accident Wednesday evening around 10.

Upon arrival, officers learned that Ashley Allen, 38 of DeGraff, was southbound on State Route 235 and struck an Amish buggy occupied by two adults and nine children. Two adults and two children were transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries

An investigation revealed that the buggy had all the required lighting and was traveling on the shoulder of the roadway when struck.

While speaking with Allen, signs of impairment were observed. She performed field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest for OVI.

Allen was transported to the Logan County Jail.

Alcohol and drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash.

Criminal charges are pending lab results.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Russells Point Police Department, Indian Lake EMS, and the DeGraff Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
