Crash leads to OVI arrest

According to Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies, a West Mansfield woman was arrested early Saturday morning after her vehicle overturned on a rural Logan County road.

Just after midnight, deputies were called to the 3600 block of Township Road 136, near Bellefontaine, after receiving a report of a vehicle on its roof with a female occupant refusing medical treatment.

Upon arrival, they found a black Honda Pilot overturned in the roadway, registered to 38-year-old Judith Dunn, who was identified as the driver.

Dunn told deputies she was headed home when she swerved to avoid a deer, overcorrected, and crashed.

While speaking with Dunn, deputies noticed several signs of impairment.

She admitted to consuming “two and a half beers” within the hour before driving and then failed several sobriety tests.

Dunn was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle impaired.

At the Logan County Jail, she refused more sobriety testing and declined to sign the BMV Form 2255.

Dunn was issued citations for OVI and failure to control, then released to a sober driver.

Bellefontaine man crashes while texting, receives citation

A Bellefontaine man was cited for distracted driving after crashing his vehicle Saturday night just outside the city limits.

Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on County Road 32 around 10:00 p.m.

They say 29-year-old Joseph Codora was behind the wheel of a 2011 Ford Escape when he drove off the road and hit a utility pole.

Codora was not injured in the crash.

However, authorities determined he had been texting while driving, and he was cited at the scene for distracted driving.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.
