Late Monday, Logan County Sheriff Deputies responded to a home on Koke Street in DeGraff after reports of a burglary.

The victim, a woman who had been sleeping in her chair, reported that a man broke through her back door and began yelling about a sexual assault in the residence before leaving the home.

The victim then contacted her boyfriend, who arrived at her house and encountered the suspect outside.

The suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Crocker Wallace, of Van Wert, was found standing next to a Honda Civic near the residence.

He appeared to be under the influence or possibly experiencing a mental health crisis.

Wallace was wearing black leggings under athletic shorts and a grey hooded sweatshirt, which matched the description given by the victim.

The victim’s boyfriend reported that Wallace took off shortly before authorities arrived on the scene.

While deputies were speaking with the victim, West Liberty Police stopped a silver Honda Civic with Indiana license plates that matched the vehicle described by the victim and her boyfriend.

The driver, Wallace, was arrested and charged with burglary, disorderly conduct, and criminal damaging.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail without incident.
