The Logan County Sheriff’s Office handled two separate vehicle accidents on Thursday, and fortunately, neither driver was injured.
Just after 8 a.m., 19-year-old James Puthoff of Conover was driving a 2010 Nissan Frontier on County Road 47 when he veered off the right side of the road, then back onto the pavement, before leaving the road again.
His truck struck a mailbox and bushes, eventually ending up in a yard where it hit several trees.
Deputies report that Puthoff fell asleep at the wheel.
He initially claimed another vehicle forced him off the road, but deputies found no evidence to support that story.
Puthoff was asleep when deputies arrived, and later admitted he had also been in a crash the day before.
He was cited for failure to control his vehicle, and the truck was towed.
Later Thursday, just before midnight, 57-year-old Rodney Taylor of Lakeview was traveling west on County Road 52 in a 2023 Ford F-150 when he left the road on the right side, overcorrected, and then went off the left side.
His truck struck a power pole and overturned.
Taylor was not injured.
He was cited for failure to control his vehicle, and his truck was also towed.
