Bellefontaine City Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Heritage Court Tuesday morning regarding a domestic dispute. When they arrived, officers spoke with the victim, her sister, the victim’s 2-year-old son, and Jawuan Lamar Woodby.
Officers spoke with the victim, and she was distraught. Her chest was pink/red, with red marks on her neck. She said they got into a verbal argument while lying on her bed. When the victim got up from the bed and walked to the bathroom, Woodby followed her and started pushing the victim as she was trying to walk away. The victim started yelling at Woodby to stop putting his hands on her. The victim then called her sister for help. Woodby pushed the victim into her son’s door with his hand on her neck. The victim defended herself by hitting Woodby with her phone in his upper chest to get him off of her.
The victim’s sister immediately contacted the police and then rushed to the victim’s residence. Once she got there, the victim’s sister stated that they were all in the living room, and she got between the victim and Woodby until the officers arrived.
Woodby admitted they were arguing like usual and started pushing each other but nothing else. He said that he is not leaving the apartment because he lives there. Woodby noted that he was trying to keep his girlfriend from going because she was pregnant.
The victim stated that she wanted medical attention because she now had abdominal pain and wanted the baby to get checked at the hospital. Woodby was arrested for domestic violence and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
