Bellefontaine Police made a drug bust Sunday night after responding to a call for a domestic dispute.
At approximately 10:00 officers were dispatched to 437 East Chillicothe Avenue for a report of a male threatening a female with a handgun.
The caller said the male produced a black handgun, then was physical with the female.
Police were told the male involved was Anthony Tyrone Johnson and that he left in his SUV.
Officers caught up with Johnson at the Speedway gas station on Sandusky Avenue.
As police made contact with Johnson they found a handgun magazine in his hoodie pocket during a pat down.
Johnson was then detained and placed in handcuffs.
A passenger in the SUV, Anna Morris, was also detained.
When asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle Johnson stated “Not that I’m aware of”.
Johnson told police he took the magazine from Morris.
Johnson denied being in the vehicle, but officers noticed him exit the SUV as they approached the gas station.
Johnson denied consent to search the vehicle.
Police walked around the SUV and observed multiple boxes of sandwich baggies.
Officers spoke with the passenger, Anna Morris, who denied any knowledge of a handgun. She had fresh injuries on her knee. She said she fell down while running. She also had fresh marks on her neck and side. She asked if she was free to leave.
The K-9 unit was requested to the scene.
As K-9 Officer Boodik arrived Johnson admitted to possessing marijuana inside the vehicle.
Police then conducted a probable cause search.
They located a digital scale with white residue, marijuana edibles, a 9mm handgun between the driver’s seat and center console, raw marijuana, two baggies of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, and a black gun box.
Johnson has a prior conviction for felony possession of drugs which prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
Police searched a book bag from inside the SUV which contained bulk amounts of marijuana, marijuana edibles, and pre-rolled marijuana.
Johnson was found to be in possession of two Ohio Direction Cards belonging to two named males and $459 in cash.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Johnson and Morris were arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Anthony Tyrone Johnson was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, trafficking in marijuana, weapons under disability, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Anna Morris was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, trafficking in marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested Morris on April 11, after they were called for a domestic dispute on Pratt Street involving a male and female. Morris was found inside a car that contained drugs. She was charged that day with possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
