A domestic disturbance early Friday morning escalated into a chaotic scene involving gunfire, a police pursuit, and two people injured — including a Marysville Police Officer.
Just after 2 a.m., Marysville officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute in the 900 block of White Oak Court.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the man involved in the situation.
During the encounter, the suspect pulled a gun and opened fire on officers from inside his vehicle.
Officers returned fire, but the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle, crashing into a police cruiser with an officer inside, as well as several other vehicles.
Law enforcement from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Marysville Police quickly located the suspect near State Route 31 and U.S. 33.
A pursuit followed, heading westbound on U.S. 33.
The chase ended near Northwest Parkway when the suspect’s car got stuck in the median.
He got out, still armed, and was shot multiple times by a Union County Sheriff’s deputy.
Officers immediately began life-saving efforts until medics from Marysville Fire arrived.
The suspect was first taken to a local hospital, then transferred to a Columbus-area facility.
His condition hasn’t been released.
A Marysville officer injured in the initial shooting was treated at a nearby hospital and later released.
No other officers were hurt.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is leading the investigation, with support from Marysville Police and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect is expected to face multiple felony charges, including first-degree felonious assault on a peace officer.
More information will be released as the investigation continues.
