Domestic incident leads to assault arrest in Urbana

A 37-year-old Urbana man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a reported domestic assault.

Officers from the Urbana Police Department were dispatched around 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, to the 400 block of Washington Ave. in Urbana, Ohio, for a possible domestic disturbance.

According to the report, Joshua Boardman admitted he had been arguing with the victim and had been drinking. He also briefly stood in a doorway and prevented them from leaving. Officers observed visible discoloration on the left side of the victim’s face, consistent with being struck. Boardman allegedly threatened the victim multiple times.

Boardman was arrested on charges of assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, and menacing, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. He was transported to the Tri-County Jail.

Court records show Boardman was arraigned later that morning and was appointed a court attorney. Bond was set at $1,000, cash or surety. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for February 19 at 2:30 p.m.
