Double fatality in Hardin County Monday

Hardin County authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday evening.

The Hardin County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 5:49 p.m. reporting a collision on State Route 68 near State Route 701.

Deputies arriving at the scene found a 2004 Volkswagen Passat and a 2014 Buick Encore had collided head-on.

Both vehicles were occupied only by their drivers.

Officials say the southbound Volkswagen, driven by 27-year-old Owen Bame of rural Dunkirk, was struck by the northbound Buick.

The Buick, driven by 66-year-old Dori Spencer of Dunkirk, had crossed into the southbound lane, causing the deadly collision.

Tragically, both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Emergency responders from BKP Ambulance District, Dunkirk Fire and EMS, Kenton Fire Department, the Hardin County Coroner’s Office, and Minich Towing assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
