Ashleigh Heater, 28, of Bellefontaine, was arrested early Sunday morning after driving recklessly and refusing to cooperate with police during a traffic stop.

Bellefontaine Police spotted a black Honda driving erratically on North Main Street.

The driver, identified as Heater, made several traffic violations, prompting officers to initiate a traffic stop.

However, she ignored the officers and continued to drive erratically, even going off the road into the grass and swerving into the opposite lane before eventually pulling into a driveway.

When officers approached her vehicle, Heater appeared confused, slurring her speech and using her phone, all while ignoring the officers’ requests for her driver’s license and proof of insurance.

She became rude and uncooperative, making sarcastic remarks and refusing to stop using her phone.

Heater then attempted to leave the scene, shoving an officer while trying to enter her house.

She was arrested after continuing to resist the officers.

A search of her vehicle revealed an open can of alcohol.

Heater was taken to the Logan County Jail, where she continued to act out.

She admitted to drinking and driving and acknowledged that she had been driving recklessly.

Heater now faces charges including operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), resisting arrest, failure to comply, assault on a peace officer, obstruction of official business, speeding, and failure to control, among others.
