Bellefontaine Police observed a suspicious driver Sunday as he pulled into the gas station on Sandusky Avenue.

Police say the driver made eye contact with them and immediately looked away.

While investigating the vehicle, they found the plates to be expired and the vehicle registered to an individual from Cincinnati.

Officers approached the driver, later identified as 30-year-old Jordon Bailey of Bellefontaine, and asked for identification.

Bailey claimed he had forgotten his wallet at home and had just purchased the vehicle earlier in the day.

When questioned, Bailey identified himself as “Johnny Newman.”

He also identified the passenger in his vehicle by a false name.

Upon further investigation, the passenger of the vehicle told police the driver was Bailey.

The suspect eventually admitted to falsifying his identity due to having a warrant for his arrest from a prior incident.

Bailey was charged with identity fraud, falsification, obstructing official business, and operating without a license.

He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
