John Christian, 76, of Louden, Tennessee, fell asleep while driving Tuesday afternoon.
He was driving on West Main Street in Russells Point when he fell asleep, went off the right side of the roadway, struck and drove over the guard rail, and came to rest in a grassy area.
Christian and his two passengers were not injured in the crash.
He was issued a traffic summons to the Russells Point Mayors Court.
Christian was informed of his court date or he could post the amount of $110.
He was charged with failure to control.
