A Columbus man is facing charges after fleeing the scene of a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night in Champaign County.
According to the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded around 10:19 p.m. on March 2 to a property damage crash on Pisgah Road, just west of Three Mile Road in Urbana.
Investigators say a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 35-year-old James Sharp of Columbus, was traveling eastbound on Pisgah Road when it went off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. After the crash, Sharp allegedly fled the scene on foot, heading north into a nearby field.
Troopers located Sharp just after 11:20 p.m.
He was cited for failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene after a crash, commonly referred to as hit-skip.
The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
