Shortly after 1:30 AM Friday morning, Bellefontaine police arrested a woman after she was allegedly driving erratically and hit a curb multiple times while under the influence.

Logan County Sheriff’s deputies reported a reckless driver traveling northbound on South Main Street.

Police soon found the vehicle, a black Chevrolet Malibu, near Lake Avenue.

Officers saw the car hit the curb several times before it finally pulled over near Carter Avenue after nearly 30 seconds of activated lights and sirens.

The driver, identified as Taylor Newman, 30, of Bellefontaine, was not wearing a seatbelt and showed several signs of impairment, according to police.

Officers reported seeing multiple miniature liquor bottles in her car.

Newman told officers she had been “tubing” earlier in the day and appeared confused about the time.

She then failed several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

A breath test at the police department showed Newman had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.127, just above the legal limit.

Newman was cited for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence (OVI), driving upon a curb, failure to control, and a seatbelt violation.

She was released to a sober driver and was scheduled to appear in court.
