Fire crews were called to a house fire in the 200 block of Bentz Avenue in Lakeview just before 6 a.m. Friday morning.
Lakeview Fire Chief Josh Oakley says the neighborhood was filled with smoke when crews arrived, with flames visible from both the home and the garage.
The fire was under control by 7 a.m., and firefighters remained on scene to knock down hot spots.
A woman inside the home made it out safely, and several cats were rescued from the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Chief Oakley says it’s too early to speculate.
Departments from Huntsville and Indian Joint Fire also assisted at the scene.
