Bellefontaine firefighters responded to a structure fire in Bellefontaine early Tuesday morning after reports of smoke and flames coming from a residence.
Around 5:30 a.m., crews were dispatched to Lot 69 at the trailer park located across from Walmart, 501 Gunntown Road, on reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had originated on a stovetop and had extended to an adjacent wall and part of the ceiling.
Fire Chief Brian Wilson said the fire was quickly brought under control and remained contained to the kitchen area.
However, smoke spread throughout the home, resulting in significant smoke damage to the interior.
No injuries were reported.
Fire crews credited the rapid response with preventing further structural damage and stopping the fire from spreading beyond the kitchen.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
