A 19-year-old Columbus man was arrested early Sunday morning after deputies found him asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on routine patrol around 4:00 AM found a blue Ford pickup parked in a dirt pull-off at the intersection of County Road 29 and County Road 5.

The truck was running, with dashboard lights illuminated and loud music playing.

As the deputy approached, a male later identified as Coby Rojas was found asleep in the driver’s seat with the seat reclined and the keys in the ignition.

An open case of beer with several cans missing was seen in the back seat.

After several attempts to wake Rojas, the deputy opened the vehicle doors and was eventually able to rouse him.

Rojas told deputies he believed he was at someone’s house and later asked what road he was on.

He admitted that he had driven to the location and showed several signs of impairment.

Deputies also noticed ski or snowboard equipment in the vehicle, and Rojas told deputies he had been at Mad River Mountain earlier in the evening, where he had drunk approximately four beers.

Rojas was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he submitted to a breath test.

Results showed a breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) of 0.140, nearly two times the legal limit.

He was placed under an Administrative License Suspension, though his license was not seized because he did not have it with him.

Rojas was cited for a physical control violation and issued a summons for underage consumption and given a date to appear in court.

He was then released to a sober driver.
