A 48-year-old Bellefontaine man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence early Sunday morning after a traffic stop on South Main Street.
According to a police report, just before 1 a.m., officers saw a black Hyundai station wagon struggling to maintain its lane while traveling southbound near the Logan County Fairgrounds.
The vehicle was seen drifting within the lane, making a sharp turn onto East Lake Avenue, crossing traffic lanes, and later stopping past a marked stop bar at a stop sign.
When the vehicle was stopped, the driver was identified as Daniel Godwin Jr., 48, of Bellefontaine.
Officers reported Godwin showed several signs of impairment and smelled of alcoholic beverages.
Godwin admitted to drinking alcohol and struggled to complete field sobriety tests.
He was taken into custody for OVI and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department.
A breath test later showed results of 0.163 and 0.168, more than twice the legal limit.
Godwin was issued a citation and has a mandatory court appearance scheduled.
The vehicle and Godwin were released to a sober driver.
