The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Carl Cook of Springfield was arrested Wednesday evening.
Deputies observed Cook driving south on U.S. Route 68 near Township Road 190 with a loud exhaust issue.
When he turned onto Township Road 190, deputies pulled him over.
Cook admitted he didn’t have a valid driver’s license, and checks revealed it was suspended for non-compliance.
Deputies also noticed signs of possible recent drug use.
Cook explained he was taking an unusual route to find a bathroom after leaving a friend’s house in Bellefontaine.
During a vehicle inventory, deputies found a metal pipe with plastic, burnt foil, and a small orange chunk of an unknown substance.
Cook was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
The unknown substance will be tested by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with additional charges possible.
Cook issued warnings for driving under suspension, failure to reinstate, and the vehicle’s exhaust defect.
He was then lodged in the Logan County Jail.
