The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office released details involving a fatal crash earlier this week.
On Wednesday morning, a head-on crash occurred on State Route 4 at State Route 56 involving a semi and SUV.
Anthony Irwin of West Liberty was driving the semi south on State Route 4 when a Ford SUV driven by Douglas Schilling, 30, of Mechanicsburg crossed the center line and crashed into the semi.
Champaign County deputies as well as fire and EMS crews from Mechanicsburg, Urbana, Central Township, and Pleasant Township immediately responded.
CareFlight was called to the scene and assisted with life-saving measures.
Douglas Schilling was pronounced dead at the scene.
Irwin was not injured.
