A man from Bellefontaine was arrested Sunday night after a violent incident that seriously injured his father.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on County Road 1 around 8 p.m. after getting a call about a fight.

When deputies arrived, they found a man on the ground with injuries to his face and unable to move his legs.

He was later identified as the suspect’s father.

Deputies arrested 22-year-old William “Tanner” LeVan at the scene without trouble.

They reported that Levan smelled of alcoholic beverages and had injuries on his hands and knees.

Paramedics said the father’s injuries were so serious that he needed to be flown to a trauma center.

Witnesses said LeVan had been drinking heavily all day and became upset during an argument about caring for his baby.

When LeVan’s father showed up to help calm things down, the situation got worse.

LeVan reportedly pushed his father off the porch and then attacked him, according to witnesses and video from a home security camera.

While sitting in a police car, Levan made phone calls to Sheriff’s Office staff and admitted to knocking his father out.

LeVan is now facing charges of felonious assault and domestic violence.

Investigators are also considering more serious charges, including child endangerment and attempted murder, because of how badly the victim was hurt and how the attack continued even after he was down.

LeVan is being held in the Logan County Jail.

The case is still under investigation.
