Fire crews responded to a report of a fire inside the AGC Automotive plant on Sandusky Avenue in Bellefontaine at around 11 AM on Tuesday.
The Bellefontaine Fire Department quickly arrived on the scene and was able to contain the situation by approximately 11:45 AM.
According to Fire Chief Brian Wilson, the fire is believed to have originated in a pit of the factory.
Initial reports suggest the incident may have occurred while maintenance crews were moving a piece of machinery, potentially sparking a fire in dust and debris accumulated in the pit.
Upon arrival, fire crews found the facility filled with thick smoke.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The fire remains under investigation.
AGC Automotive, a prominent supplier in the automotive glass industry, operates a large manufacturing facility in Bellefontaine.
Bellefontaine Fire Department was assisted by the Huntsville and Belle Center Fire Departments.
Just before 1 PM, the company decided to send employees home for the day.
Representatives from AGC declined to comment on the situation at the scene.
