A large fire heavily damaged a restaurant on South Main Street in downtown Kenton, on Wednesday morning just after 5 AM.

Crews from Kenton, Forest, Ada, McGuffey, Belle Center, Huntsville, Bellefontaine, Mt. Victory, and Dunkirk helped to control the blaze at the 101 Smokehouse.

The restaurant said on Facebook, “Our team is sad to announce that due to the extensive fire damage we endured last night we will be closed indefinitely as cleanup will take some time. We would like to thank the community for all their kind thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.”

The Kenton Fire Department claims the building is considered a total loss.

The State Fire Marshal has been called to help investigate and determine the cause of the fire.
