Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month.

Congratulations to Max Fissel and Ava Kunze.

Max Fissel is the son of Mark and Stephanie Fissel of Bellefontaine.

Future plans: Attend college and earn a degree in data science.

School activities and awards: Varsity Soccer and Varsity Tennis, Delegate of the American Legion Buckeye Boys State program and two-time attendee of the HOBY Leadership seminar, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Interact Club, Honda Academic Achievement Award, Heart of a Chieftain Award, and various CBC sports awards.

If I were principal for a day: I would take all students and staff on a field trip to Chick-fil-A. Thank me later!

Favorite school memory: Winning the CBC title in tennis during my freshman year.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents, Coach Jason Calton, and Coach Steve Henry.

Lately I’ve been reading: Sports news.

My advice to parents: Be present and supportive of your children through both their successes and their setbacks. Encourage their dreams, uplift their confidence, and celebrate their achievements. And challenge your children to look beyond what they believe is possible, as they may discover new confidence within themselves.

My biggest regret: At a younger age, I took my friendships and brothers for granted, not fully comprehending that the moments we share are limited, making each day a unique gift with the people I care about most.

Where I see myself in 5 years: I will have graduated from college and will be starting a career in data science.

Ava Kunze is the daughter of Jon and Tera Kunze of Bellefontaine.

Future plans: Attend college and study speech-language pathology.

School activities and awards: Les Fons, Swim, Musical, Cheer, National Honor Society Social Media Coordinator, and DARE District Outreach Officer.

If I were principal for a day: I would make the day start later.

Favorite school memory: Senior year Les Fons Camp. Our group had gotten so close over that week at Wright State, and I made so many core memories with those people.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My parents and my older sister Lily.

Lately I’ve been reading: La Casa en Mango Street.

My advice to parents: Encourage your kids to get involved and try new things. My best friends and favorite memories have all been made from various activities.

My biggest regret: Being too scared to try swimming and only starting it my senior year.

Where I see myself in 5 years: I will have graduated from college and will be starting graduate school to earn a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
