Champaign County Sheriff Chad M. Burroughs has recognized five law enforcement officers for their exemplary professionalism and teamwork during a recent high-risk incident involving an intoxicated, combative, and suicidal subject.
The incident, which occurred on October 3, 2025, presented a serious risk to everyone involved. Through calm communication, sound judgment, and adherence to de-escalation techniques, the officers successfully resolved the situation without injury to any party.
Letters of Commendation were issued to the following individuals:
- Deputy Bailey Ramsey, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office
- Deputy Bryce Davis, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office
- Deputy Ashlie Walter, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office
- Officer Rob McConnell, Mechanicsburg Police Department
- Trooper Ricky Jenkins, Ohio State Highway Patrol
Sheriff Burroughs commended the group for their professionalism, patience, and compassion under pressure, noting that their actions exemplify the highest standards of public safety service.
