A former Bellefontaine City Schools superintendent has passed away.
Dr. Robert “Bob” Carter, 93, of Bellefontaine, died at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community on Wednesday evening.
Bob was the BCS superintendent from 1978 to 1993.
He later started his own educational consulting business and worked with schools across the country.
Dr. Carter’s experience in education led to a close friendship with the president of Honda.
Bob is survived by a son (David), a daughter (Michelle), 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother (Jon), and several nieces and nephews.
He was married to Marlene for 63 years. She preceded him in death in June 2021.
Dr. Carter served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart. He then earned his doctorate at The Ohio State University.
Arrangements are being handled by Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 11th from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 12th at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 117 North Main Street, Bellefontaine.
