In August 2023, the Bellefontaine Police Department launched an investigation into former Bellefontaine High School Band Director Jeremy Karg.
The investigation began on Tuesday, August 29th, when detectives were called to the Bellefontaine Board of Education regarding an internal theft.
Police reports indicated that the situation prompted a full investigation, which was supported by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
After months of investigation, a Plea Hearing has been scheduled in a Logan County Courtroom for Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:15 AM.
Karg faces charges of Theft in Office, a felony of the 4th degree.
These charges are tied to the alleged mishandling of funds during his time as Band Director.
In a statement from Bellefontaine City Schools Superintendent Brad Hall said:
“Bellefontaine City Schools has cooperated with law enforcement since these allegations surfaced. We appreciate the tireless work from the Bellefontaine Police Department and the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office and are grateful that this former employee is being held accountable for his actions and that funds will be returned to the district.”
