According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles was reported Friday afternoon just after 4:30 p.m. near the U.S. 33 ramp on East Sandusky Avenue.
Police say a 2020 Buick Envision driven by 78-year-old Kenneth Ware of Quincy was stopped at a red light, with a 2010 Honda Accord driven by 43-year-old Nathaniel Lowe of Bellefontaine stopped behind him.
A 2025 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 38-year-old Joshua Roberts of Marion was stopped behind the Accord.
A 2018 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 29-year-old Mehari Berhe of Columbus failed to stop and struck the Silverado from behind, causing a chain reaction crash involving all four vehicles.
Roberts was taken to Mary Rutan Hospital by Bellefontaine EMS for possible injuries.
The Silverado and the Honda Accord were towed from the scene.
Berhe was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
