A Freeze Watch has been issued for Logan and Champaign Counties and surrounding areas, with the possibility of the first frost of the season Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Clear skies, light winds, and a cool air mass are expected to bring temperatures down to around or below 32 degrees Saturday night.
Even if temperatures stay above freezing, widespread and heavy frost is expected across the region.
A freeze could mark the end of the growing season, potentially damaging or killing sensitive plants and remaining crops.
Residents are encouraged to protect outdoor plants and bring sensitive vegetation indoors before temperatures drop Saturday night.
