Friday morning, just before 3 AM, Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies found a car driving around the loop at the West Mansfield Conservation Club on South Main Street.

Deputies pulled in to check it out and stopped the vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Kaiden Carpenter, of West Liberty.

Reportedly, the car was filled with smoke, the windows were fogged, and deputies said there was a strong smell of burnt marijuana.

Carpenter reportedly also showed several signs of impairment, having trouble finding his driver’s license, and even handing deputies a credit card instead.

After he failed sobriety tests, Carpenter was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence.

A search of the car turned up a jar of marijuana, a grinder, and a bowl with residue.

Carpenter now faces two first-degree misdemeanor charges: operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A juvenile passenger was taken home by deputies, and his mother was informed of the situation.
