More than a year and a half after the March 14, 2024, Indian Lake tornado destroyed the Bellefontaine Rotary Club’s original Purified Water Station in downtown Lakeview, a newly constructed facility is now officially open to the public—this time at a new location.
A ribbon cutting was held Monday afternoon at the new site, 255 South Main Street in Lakeview, with several Rotarians and community leaders in attendance.
Rotary District Governor Heidi Schiller, Lakeview Mayor Elaine Fagan-Moore, Village Administrator Dave Scott, and Logan County Chamber of Commerce representatives Lydia Hess and Ben Vollrath all also took part in the ceremony.
The new Purified Water Station provides reverse osmosis, filtered drinking water for 50 cents per gallon, and customers must bring their own containers.
Proceeds support scholarships for Logan County high school seniors.
The Rotary Club of Bellefontaine extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the new watershed.
A special thank you goes to the Village of Lakeview for their coordination in getting utilities connected, the Logan County Solid Waste District for pouring the concrete pad, and the Logan County Commissioners for their support with the land.
This project reflects the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”, bringing together community partners to create something that benefits Logan County residents while supporting scholarships for local students.
