Governor Mike DeWine has issued a proclamation recognizing April as Fraud Prevention Month across the state, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars.

The governor said his administration has prioritized accountability since taking office and will continue working to strengthen safeguards within state programs.

“Since day one, my administration has worked hard to prevent fraud and abuse in state government programs,” DeWine said. “We will continue to innovate and put safeguards in place to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not misused.”

According to the proclamation, prevention, education, and strong consumer protections play a critical role in helping Ohioans identify scams and stay informed about emerging fraud trends.

Several state agencies are also marking Fraud Prevention Month by sharing information about their year-round efforts to detect and prevent fraud.

This includes agencies focused on program integrity, working to stop fraudulent claims involving taxpayer funds.

Additionally, agencies with consumer protection missions are emphasizing efforts to combat fraud that can drive up the cost of goods and services for Ohio residents.

State leaders encourage Ohioans to stay vigilant, report suspicious activity, and take advantage of available resources to protect themselves from scams.
