The Graham Local Schools Board of Education met Monday evening, March 16, and received an update on the search for the district’s next superintendent.
The search is being led by K-12 consultants Mike Trego and Penny Rucker, who gathered feedback from staff, students, and community members through surveys collected from February 16 through March 13 and focus groups held on March 12. A total of 57 questionnaires were submitted, and about 110 people attended the focus groups to help shape the district’s superintendent search profile. Officials said about 25 candidates have expressed interest in the position so far.
Feedback from the process highlighted the district’s dedicated staff, supportive administration, strong extracurricular programs, and close-knit community as key strengths. Participants also raised concerns about financial stability due to a lack of levy support, the need for greater transparency in district operations, and finding ways to bring the community together on difficult issues.
Stakeholders said the next superintendent should be a visible and transparent leader with strong communication skills who can set a clear vision, work collaboratively with the community, and provide stable, long-term leadership as the district moves forward.
Current Graham superintendent Chad Lensman provides an update on the search for a new leader and offers his congratulations to the Graham wrestling team for their 25th straight state title.
