Graham High School student Emilie Alcorn is being recognized for her academic excellence after earning first place in the Clark State College Research Essay Contest.
Alcorn, who studies Animal Science at Graham High School, won with her essay titled “Schizophrenia and Its Complexities.” The contest is open to all students at Clark State College, including those enrolled in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses. She is currently taking CCP English with Mrs. Young.
As part of her achievement, Alcorn received a $100 award, will have her work published in Voices of the Valley, and will be honored at an awards banquet this April.
“I’ve always been interested in mental health and wanted to shed light on the stigmas of schizophrenia,” Alcorn said.
Looking ahead, she plans to attend Ohio Wesleyan University this fall, where she will major in Zoology.
Her accomplishment highlights both her academic dedication and her commitment to raising awareness about important mental health topics.
