According to Bellefontaine Police, a woman from Grove City was arrested Tuesday after hitting another vehicle and driving away, then being found driving while intoxicated with her two children in the car.

At around 3:48 PM, officers were called to Brewfontaine, in Bellefontaine, after a woman’s vehicle was struck by another car that fled the scene. The victim didn’t see the accident happen, but nearby witnesses saw the crash and took a photo of the suspect vehicle. They reported seeing the car hit the victim’s truck and drive off north on South Main Street.

Police tracked down the suspect vehicle to a Walmart parking lot. The car had damage matching the accident, and officers saw it had also hit another parked car. The driver, later identified as Sarah Lynn Allman, 39, of Grove City was found in Walmart with her two children. She admitted to being at Brewfountaine earlier but claimed she didn’t know she had caused any accidents. Officers noticed signs of intoxication and could smell alcohol coming from Allman.

Allman was given field sobriety tests, which showed she was impaired. She was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and for child endangerment because her children were in the car at the time. During a search of the car, officers found a large glass bong, which was taken as evidence.

At the police station, Allman took a breathalyzer test, which showed alcohol in her system. She was charged with DUI, child endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident. She was taken to jail, and the case is now under review by Logan County Children’s Services.
